How Vamp Elastic Adds Support to Your Pointe Shoes

Sewn across the throat of the shoe, the opening just above the vamp, this wide elastic acts as a flexible vamp extension. Its tension can help resist the foot pushing too far forward, adding hold for dancers who feel they are going over the box or popping out at the front.

The aim is to provide some of the support of a deeper vamp while allowing the elastic to give as the foot moves through demi-pointe. Your teacher or pointe shoe fitter can help establish the placement and tension that work with your feet and shoes.

Tendu's soft, smooth yet strong elastic comes in a 30 cm cut length, 65 mm wide, ready to measure and divide to suit your shoes. The pale pink finish sits neatly alongside ballet footwear, and sewing instructions are included.
