Size & Fit Advice

All shoes are displayed in UK sizes. The size printed on the shoe or box may differ due to the manufacturer's international sizing system.

Fit Advice:
Our sizing advice is a guide based on brand recommendations and customer feedback. Dance shoe fit is highly individual, so we cannot guarantee the recommended size will be the perfect fit for everyone.

Designed for intermediate Irish dancers with trained feet.
Best suited to dancers progressing from beginner hard shoes such as the GL50 Ember.

Fits true to size. We recommend you get your regular size. Read HOW TO FIT IRISH DANCING SHOES for more informations. If between sizes, we recommend contacting our fitting team for advice.

How to Fit

Ensuring your jig shoes fit perfectly is crucial for optimal performance and comfort. Here are some tips to help you find the right fit and break in your new Irish dancing shoes:
1. Snug Fit: Jig shoes should fit snugly but not too tight. Your toes should have enough room to wiggle slightly, and your heel should stay in place without slipping. A snug fit ensures better control and support during dancing.
2. Poodle Socks: Wear the same type of socks you plan to use during dancing when trying on your jig shoes. This helps in getting an accurate fit.
3. Lace Up Properly: Ensure that you lace up your jig shoes tightly and evenly. This provides better support and keeps your feet secure within the shoes.

Breaking In Your Jig Shoes:
1. Wear Them Around the House: Before hitting the dance floor, wear your new jig shoes around the house. This helps the leather and suede sole to mold to the shape of your feet.
2. Short Practice Sessions: Start with short practice sessions to gradually break in the shoes. Avoid wearing them for extended periods initially to prevent discomfort or blisters.
3. Flex the Soles: Gently flex the soles of your shoes by hand to soften them up. This makes it easier to perform intricate steps and movements.

Materials & Construction

Upper: Soft full-grain leather, comfortable from first wear.

Tip: EchoDrive™ high-density resin tip, the same sound platform used in the GL50 Ember, for a bright and crisp strike.

Heel: EchoBase™ resin heel with partial instep bubble, designed as a transitional shape before championship-level hard shoes.

Insole: Featherflexi™ lightweight insole recalibrated for the flexible sole.

Sole: Flexible black suede sole with full coverage from forefoot to heel seat, allowing trained dancers to articulate and feel the floor.

Toe Box: Reinforced toe box introduced at intermediate level to support more advanced footwork and developing toe stands.

Care information

Allow shoes to air dry naturally after class or competition (avoid direct heat).
Wipe leather with a damp cloth to remove dirt and sweat; polish occasionally with a leather conditioner to maintain softness.
Use a shoe bag to protect tips and heels in between practices.
Avoid prolonged outdoor wear, these are built for the dance floor!
For best results, break them in gradually (short practice sessions at first).

Goleen Flint GL60 Featherflexi Prostep Jig Shoes – Intermediate Irish Dancing Hard Shoes

Progress with confidence in the Goleen Flint GL60 Featherflexi Prostep Jig Shoes, an intermediate Irish dancing hard shoe designed for dancers graduating from beginner jig shoes and preparing for championship-level technique. The Flint is the natural bridge between the GL50 Ember and the GL70 Onyx, giving trained feet more flexibility, response and floor connection while keeping the clear sound dancers already know.

The GL60 carries forward the same trusted acoustic platform as the Ember, with an EchoDrive™ high-density resin tip and an EchoBase™ resin heel. This means dancers can keep the familiar bright, crisp strike and clean heel sound they have trained with, while progressing into a more responsive intermediate shoe.

The key upgrade is under the foot. A flexible black suede sole, with full coverage from forefoot to heel seat, allows a trained foot to articulate, drive and feel the floor more clearly. As the sole moves with each step, dancers can develop cleaner rhythm, quicker footwork and stronger control.

Toe reinforcement is introduced at this stage because toe stands and more demanding footwork begin to enter the dancer's training. The reinforced toe box provides extra structure for intermediate technique, while the partial instep bubble built into the EchoBase™ heel helps prepare the foot for the more advanced geometry of championship shoes.

Inside, the Featherflexi™ insole has been recalibrated for the flexible sole, offering lightweight support without taking away the floor feel intermediate dancers need. Made from soft full-grain leather, the Flint is comfortable from first wear while offering the responsiveness earned through training.
