International shoe sizes can vary slightly between brands and models. Use your measured foot length as the best starting point, then compare it with the individual brand's size recommendation. Where a product page gives model-specific sizing advice, that guidance should always take priority over a general conversion chart.

Never choose a dance shoe from conversion alone. Ballet, jazz, ballroom and character shoes can fit very differently depending on the last, upper material, width and intended level of compression. Use this table to understand international equivalents, then follow the fit advice for the individual shoe.
How to Measure Your Feet for Dance Shoes
Measure both feet while standing, preferably later in the day. Use the longer foot when comparing your measurement with a shoe size chart.
Foot Length
Key MeasurementStand with your heel lightly against a wall and place your foot flat on a sheet of paper. Mark the end of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to the mark.
Measure in centimetres for the most accurate comparison with international shoe charts.
Measure Both Feet
Repeat the measurement on the other foot. It is very common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other, so always use the larger measurement when choosing your starting size.
Foot Width
Measure across or around the widest part of the forefoot. Width can be just as important as length in dance shoes, particularly in fitted ballet, jazz and ballroom styles.
Measure While Standing
Take measurements with your full weight on your feet. Standing allows the foot to spread naturally and gives a more realistic measurement than measuring while sitting.
Check the Dance Fit
A correctly fitted dance shoe should feel secure without restricting the toes or causing pressure. Different dance disciplines require different amounts of growing room, compression and heel security, so always follow the model-specific Dance World Fit Advice.
This chart is designed as an international reference rather than a replacement for individual brand sizing. Bloch, Capezio, So Danca, IDS, PortDance, Diamant and other dance footwear brands may use their own conversion systems or fit differently from standard street shoes. Always use the individual product's Dance World Fit Advice where available.

Description
Description
For days that move between teaching, dancing and everything in between, LOWERS by PortDance brings an easy elegance to everyday footwear. Handcrafted in Portugal, these blue leather dance trainers combine a soft, lightweight upper with a cushioned interior and a slim, understated silhouette. The Neolite outsole is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, bringing dance-minded movement to a shoe that fits naturally into your daily wardrobe.
PortDance LOWERS Personality
Understated • Soft Blue • Retro-Inspired • Everyday Versatility
There is a quiet charm to LOWERS. The softly textured blue leather, tonal laces and curved stitched panels give the shoe a gentle vintage influence, while white accents at the tongue and heel keep the finish fresh. Its neat, low-profile shape works beautifully with relaxed studio layers, cropped trousers or denim. A little colour, thoughtfully done.
PortDance LOWERS Blue Dance Trainers – Design & Performance
Soft leather that moves with you.
The genuine leather upper brings natural breathability and a supple feel, adapting to the movement of the foot as you walk or dance. A cushioned interior adds comfort, while the lightweight construction makes LOWERS an appealing choice for teaching days, practice sessions and everyday wear.
A fit you can adjust.
Front lacing allows you to refine the hold across the instep. The enclosed toe and heel give the shoe its familiar sneaker shape, with a low-cut opening that leaves the ankle free to move.
Neolite: a considered balance of grip and glide.
PortDance uses a high-density synthetic rubber outsole designed to support smooth turns and rotations alongside controlled traction. Its flexibility allows natural movement through the foot, bringing a dance-focused sole to an everyday leather sneaker. How much the shoe grips or glides will depend on the floor and its condition.
Made to move beyond the studio.
The Neolite outsole is designed to resist abrasion during outdoor use and does not require the routine wire brushing associated with suede dance soles. This makes LOWERS a practical option for dancers who want one shoe for practice and daily wear. Use care on wet or highly polished surfaces, and always check your studio's indoor-footwear policy.

Dance World Notes
The teaching-day wardrobe.
LOWERS makes sense with the clothes dancers actually live in: relaxed trousers, a favourite studio top and a layer for the journey home. The slim shape keeps the whole look easy and considered.
Blue that feels surprisingly effortless.
The muted colour sits beautifully alongside grey, cream, navy and denim. White heel and tongue details add just enough contrast, giving this practical dance sneaker a personality of its own.
Dance World Fit Advice
Overall Fit
Look for a secure hold through the midfoot and heel, with enough room for your toes to lie naturally inside the closed front.
Adjustable Lacing
Loosen the laces before putting the shoe on, then tighten gradually for an even fit. The shoe should stay with your foot without uncomfortable pressure across the instep.
Try with Your Usual Socks
Use the socks you plan to wear for teaching, practice or everyday use. Check both feet while standing and taking a few gentle steps on a clean surface.
LOWERS Fit Note
If you are between sizes or need advice on width, contact Dance World with your foot measurements before ordering. The leather may soften with wear, but the shoe should not feel painfully tight when new.
Dance World sizing recommendations are intended as a starting point. Dance shoe fit is individual and can vary with foot width, toe shape, instep height and personal preference.
