The Repetto S0749 Plunging Bodysuit borrows the beautiful lines of a ballet leotard and softens them for a different kind of movement. Made from a lightweight Italian second-skin knit, it feels exceptionally smooth, breathable and easy against the body - lovely for Pilates, yoga, barre and low-impact studio sessions.

A deep V-neckline, delicate contrast piping and functional snap detail give the simple black silhouette its distinctly Parisian finish. It looks like dancewear, but the softer construction tells a slightly different story.

Repetto S0749 Bodysuit – Design & Movement

The difference here is in the fabric.

Rather than the firmer, more supportive feel dancers may expect from a traditional ballet leotard, Repetto uses an Italian second-skin knit made from 83% polyamide and 17% elastane. It feels soft, supple and noticeably light on the body, allowing the bodysuit to follow movement without creating a heavily structured or compressed sensation.

That also explains something slightly surprising about the S0749: off the body, it can appear more generous than a conventional dance leotard. Once worn, the fluid stretch of the fabric allows it to settle naturally against the body. We find the sizing true to size, but the construction and hand-feel are intentionally softer than Repetto's more traditional ballet styles.

The plunging V-neckline is finished with functional snaps, allowing the neckline to be worn closed or adjusted for a slightly more relaxed look. Fine contrasting piping traces the neckline and armholes, quietly outlining the upper body and giving the otherwise minimalist black design its signature detail.

The back remains beautifully clean and simple, a lovely counterpoint to the more detailed front.

The S0749 is interesting precisely because it isn't trying to behave like a traditional ballet leotard.

If you're accustomed to technical dancewear, you'll immediately notice the difference: this feels softer, lighter and less structured. For ballet class that may not be what every dancer is looking for, but for Pilates, yoga, barre and mobility sessions, that relaxed second-skin quality makes complete sense.

Dance World Tip: We recommend choosing your usual size. Don't be concerned if the bodysuit looks surprisingly generous when first removed from the packaging, the softer Italian stretch knit behaves differently from a structured dance leotard and settles smoothly against the body once worn.

And outside the studio? Add wide-leg trousers, a wrap cardigan or relaxed warm-ups and it becomes a very convincing bodysuit. That's where the beautiful neckline really earns its place.

The V-neck comes from dance. The piping feels unmistakably Repetto. But the soft second-skin fabric gives the S0749 a more relaxed identity - less about holding the body firmly and more about moving comfortably with it.
