Size & Fit Advice

All shoes are displayed in UK sizes. The size printed on the shoe or box may differ due to the manufacturer's international sizing system.

Fit Advice:
Our sizing advice is a guide based on brand recommendations and customer feedback. Dance shoe fit is highly individual, so we cannot guarantee the recommended size will be the perfect fit for everyone.

Fits true to size – order your regular street shoe size.
Designed with a secure lace-up closure and optional strap for extra hold.
Flexible forefoot allows early arch development while keeping proper alignment.
Ideal for beginners to intermediate dancers transitioning into hard shoe work.
If between sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort and growing room.

How to Fit

Ensuring your jig shoes fit perfectly is crucial for optimal performance and comfort. Here are some tips to help you find the right fit and break in your new Irish dancing shoes:
1. Snug Fit: Jig shoes should fit snugly but not too tight. Your toes should have enough room to wiggle slightly, and your heel should stay in place without slipping. A snug fit ensures better control and support during dancing.
2. Poodle Socks: Wear the same type of socks you plan to use during dancing when trying on your jig shoes. This helps in getting an accurate fit.
3. Lace Up Properly: Ensure that you lace up your jig shoes tightly and evenly. This provides better support and keeps your feet secure within the shoes.

Breaking In Your Jig Shoes:
1. Wear Them Around the House: Before hitting the dance floor, wear your new jig shoes around the house. This helps the leather and suede sole to mold to the shape of your feet.
2. Short Practice Sessions: Start with short practice sessions to gradually break in the shoes. Avoid wearing them for extended periods initially to prevent discomfort or blisters.
3. Flex the Soles: Gently flex the soles of your shoes by hand to soften them up. This makes it easier to perform intricate steps and movements.

Care information

Allow shoes to air dry naturally after class or competition (avoid direct heat).
Wipe leather with a damp cloth to remove dirt and sweat; polish occasionally with a leather conditioner to maintain softness.
Use a shoe bag to protect tips and heels in between practices.
Avoid prolonged outdoor wear, these are built for the dance floor!
For best results, break them in gradually (short practice sessions at first).

Description

Goleen Ember GL50 Featherflexi Core Jig Shoes – Beginner Irish Dancing Hard Shoes

Step confidently into hard shoe training with the Goleen Ember GL50 Featherflexi Core Jig Shoes. Designed for dancers moving into Irish hard shoes for the first time, the Ember combines a soft full-grain leather upper, crisp resin sound technology and supportive beginner-friendly construction to help developing dancers learn trebles, drums and rhythm with confidence.

There is nothing quite like the first proper click of a jig shoe. Built for that exciting stage of the Irish dancing journey, the Goleen Ember GL50 features an EchoDrive™ high-density resin tip for a bright, crisp strike and an EchoBase™ heel with a resin striking plate bonded to a solid heel block for a clean, defined drum. The tip and heel are tonally matched, helping the shoe produce a clear, balanced sound from front to back.

Inside, the Featherflexi™ lightweight contoured insole supports the developing foot without adding unnecessary bulk. The full leather sole is intentionally engineered stiff, giving beginner dancers the structural support they need while learning hard shoe technique. The toe box is deliberately soft because beginner dancers are learning trebles and drums, not yet standing on the tip.

Made from soft full-grain leather, the Ember is comfortable from the first lace-up with no soaking, bending or heat treatment required. It is built to support dancers from their first hard shoe class through beginner and primary grades, first feiseanna, weekly practice and early competitions.
