The BLOCH Eclipse II is designed for a snug, secure performance fit. The stretch canvas should contour smoothly around the forefoot without loose fabric, while the suede working surface should remain centred beneath the ball of the foot.

At these transition points, choose according to forefoot width and fit preference: the smaller option gives a closer performance fit, while the larger option offers more room.

BLOCH bases its guidance on a medium-width foot. Dancers with a broader forefoot may prefer the larger adjacent size.

When checking the fit:
• The suede outsole should sit directly beneath the ball of the foot.
• The toes should lie flat rather than curling or gripping.
• The canvas should remain smooth without loose folds.
• The underfoot elastic should sit securely without twisting.
• The slingback should hold the half sole in place without • cutting into the heel.
• Rise onto relevé to confirm that the turning surface remains correctly aligned.

A half sole that feels comfortable while standing but shifts away from the ball of the foot in movement is not correctly positioned.

Care information

Spot clean the stretch canvas and lining using a soft, slightly damp cloth with a small amount of mild detergent.

Avoid machine washing or prolonged soaking, as excess water may affect the stretch construction, silicone backing and suede outsole.

Allow Eclipse II to air dry naturally away from radiators, dryers, direct heat and strong sunlight.

Before Choosing Your Size

Take dancewear measurements over underwear or close-fitting clothing using a flexible tape measure. For shoes, measure both feet while standing and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.

Bust / Chest Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape straight and level.

Waist Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso.

Hips Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, keeping the tape level.

Girth Start at one shoulder, measure down the front of the torso, through the crotch and back to the same shoulder in one continuous loop.

Foot Length Measure from heel to longest toe while standing. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement as your general starting point.

A soft stretch lining and internal microfibre grip help the upper sit closely against the foot, while silicone-backed underfoot elastic and a secure slingback keep the turning surface correctly positioned. Underneath, a durable suede leather outsole creates a reliable working area for turns, travelling movement and acro transitions.

The stay-put studio hero. Eclipse II is beautifully minimal from the outside but surprisingly engineered underneath. Its internal grip, silicone-backed elastic and slingback work together to keep the half sole aligned, while the stretch upper preserves the close, flexible feeling dancers want from contemporary footwear.

Light Sand gives Eclipse II a warm, natural and understated barefoot-inspired finish.

The foundation of Eclipse II is its supportive stretch canvas upper. It adapts closely to the shape of the forefoot, allowing the toes and metatarsals to move naturally while reducing loose fabric and excess bulk.

Inside, a new soft stretch lining creates a smoother, more comfortable layer against the skin. A microfibre sockliner adds internal grip, helping the foot remain connected to the shoe rather than sliding independently inside it.

Underneath, a suede leather forefoot outsole protects the toes and ball of the foot from repeated friction while creating the working surface for turns. Traditional ballet-shoe-style pleating allows the material to shape around the forefoot and flex naturally through pointing, relevé and directional movement.

Eclipse II's upgraded elastic system is central to its performance. A silicone-backed underfoot elastic helps resist unwanted movement, while the BLOCH-branded slingback maintains secure placement around the heel. Together, they tackle one of the most important requirements in a half sole: keeping the turning pad correctly aligned beneath the foot.

The result is a strong balance of freedom and reassurance. Eclipse II still feels light and barefoot-inspired, but its lined upper and layered grip system create a more secure, contained experience than the most stripped-back single-elastic turners.

The stay-put studio hero.

The secure fit system is the real Eclipse II story. BLOCH addresses placement at several points: stretch canvas around the forefoot, microfibre grip inside the shoe, silicone beneath the elastic and a slingback around the heel. The result should feel far more considered than simply attaching a turning pad to one elastic strap.

We also like the softly lined construction for longer sessions. It gives Eclipse II a more finished and comfortable feeling around the forefoot without adding the bulk or restriction of a full dance shoe.

Our overall impression: this is the half sole for dancers who want barefoot-style articulation but prefer a little more reassurance around fit. It feels particularly well suited to quick turns, travelling choreography and acro transitions where keeping the working surface aligned really matters.
